Sim City

In one of my absolute favorite stories on the day, it appears the source code for SimCity has been made public. If you don’t know or remember SimCity, then you’ve probably found this blog by accident. I still remember playing sim city for the first time back when it was released on the old Super Nintendo Entertainment System. I would sit for hours as a child building cities from scratch. My poor mother probably thought I was going to become an engineer. Sadly, she was wrong, but I did become a writer and now I’m writing this to tell the world - get excited.

SimCity is so amazing that when the old SNES game was released to Virtual Console on the Wii, I ponied up the six or seven bucks for it and killed an entire Saturday with my roommates building an empire. The game still holds up, after all these years. Just goes to show what kind of legs a truly genius idea can have in this new century. SimCity has spawned countless clones, sequels, and down-right ripoffs. Now, the public can freely make any kind of Sim they wish. I can’t wait to see what some people come up with. If I stumble upon some really great ports, I’ll post them here.
