Apple dropped the price of the 1 gig iPod Shuffle to 49 bucks.  It was 79 yesterday.  This has led to rampant geek speculation that Apple is ready to drop yet another incarnation of their glorified hard drives on us all.

Now that Apple has lowered the price of the Shuffles,  I can’t wait to get right out there and blow 50 bucks on a three dollar piece of plastic and parts that I can either use for the storage of songs I bought on iTunes but don’t really own or for songs I never actually bought but do really own, albeit illegally.  Either that, or I’ll just continue to burn discs to play in my car until someone invents a useful MP3 player that doesn’t require me to give Apple any portion of my paycheck (or soul).

But if you want an iPod shuffle, they’re cheaper now!
