Why I Love Youtube: Reason Number 8,724,295
This awesome blog post where somebody found the old Super Smash Bros commercial.
The text:
“Super Smash Brothers Brawl is just around the corner and I’m patiently waiting for some creative Nintendo commercials like the ones we got back in the old days. The good old days of the N64 are gone and so are the wacky commercials that came with it. Spots like the one above really peaked my interest in games and I’m not sure why companies aren’t sticking with the funny approach that obviously worked in the old days.”
To answer the guy’s question, it’s basically because they don’t have to. For the same reason the Halo 3 commercials weren’t full of screenshots, the new Smash Bros game will be released with a less than hilarious marketing campaign, I’d venture to guess. Back in the day, they had to convince everyone that a “mario fighting game” would work. With the game getting rave reviews everywhere, they no longer have to do any convincing. I so can’t wait for this game to come out.
