The Pentagon wants to use stem cells to regenerate soldiers’ lost limbs and whatnot, according to the .AU set (and we all know how trustworthy they can be).

Culled from the story:

“THE Pentagon is joining with universities and hospitals in $US250 million ($267m) research to discover how to help wounded soldiers regenerate skin, muscle and even limbs from their own stem cells.

The army’s surgeon-general said he envisioned the day when adult stem cells would be harvested before a soldier goes into the battle and then used to regrow new limbs within days of suffering a combat wound.”

First of all, how creepy is the army’s surgeon general?  Secondly, this is such an insanely charged issue -  politically, ethically, medically and spiritually - that I don’t believe I can do it justice in what little time I have to put together a blog post.  Heck, coming from the AU crowd, this may just be hearsay.  However, it sounds kind of cool on paper, so I figured it was worth sharing.
