NewsCorp Hired Hacker
While no one yet can seem to agree on exactly what it was used for, we now at least know for sure that Rupert Murdoch-owned NewsCorp hired a hacker to create some pirating software. The issue of what was done with said pirating software has yet to be completely resolved, however it was reported that the first payment said hacker received came in the form of 20k in bills hidden in electronics equipment shipped (smuggled?) from Canada.
The AP has this to say:
Christopher Tarnovsky — who said his first payment was $20,000 in cash hidden in electronic devices mailed from Canada — testified in a corporate-spying lawsuit brought against News Corp’s NDS Group (NNDS.O) by DISH Network Corp (DISH.O).
The trial could result in hundreds of millions of dollars in damage awards.
Luckily, Rupert Murdoch has that money hidden in the appliances in his kitchen.
