India Blames China for Hacking
In a story that seems to come straight out of a James Bond movie, India is blaming China for recent hacks of online assets. Now, to most people, this is some kind of technical mumbo-jumbo, but upon further review, we may have stumbled upon the future of covert warfare. Though, apparently it was not quite covert enough, if the Indian government now knows who was responsible.
From ARS:
The Times of India has accused Chinese hackers, allegedly backed by the Chinese government, of systematically attacking Indian online assets over the past 18 months. The goal of these assaults, at least according to the paper, is to map and discover weak points within India’s IT infrastructure. Such information could give China an advantage in any potential conflict, and the article implies that India has been slow to develop a retalitory system in the event of a Chinese attack.
It should be noted that we have no proof that the Chinese are actually heavily involved in the attacks. The whole article is actually quite interesting - if you find international affairs and computer hacking interesting (and I do).
