Google Killer?
Powerset is finally going to give us all a chance to check out their supposed Google-killer. This new search engine alleges that it will totally destroy Google by offering a much smarter and more efficient search model. If this turns out to be true, it would be akin to the moment in 2001: A Space Odyssey where the monkey-man sees the monolith and figures out how to use a bone as a weapon. When Google hit the internet, it created a revolution.
So get excited, because we may be on the verge of yet any such re-imagining of what a search engine can be.
From ABC NEWS:
The public will get its first chance Monday to test a search engine from start-up Powerset that eschews conventional keyword technology and instead is designed to understand the meaning of Web pages.
As such, Powerset’s search engine holds the promise of fundamentally changing people’s expectations for search engines by, in theory, offering a smarter, more efficient experience.
While this is all still just conjecture until we see the finished product, I cannot wait to test this Beta. I haven’t been this excited about a Beta since PMOG (which just went live, but I’ll link that tomorrow).
